Are you a proven leader ready to take ownership of crew performance, quality, and execution on the hangar floor? As an APG Senior Crew Chief, you are responsible for the overall operation of your crew—providing hands-on technical guidance, monitoring work progress, and ensuring all maintenance is performed to the highest standards of safety and workmanship. You’ll evaluate personnel performance, manage tools, materials, schedules, and resources, while keeping leadership informed on job status, challenges, and corrective actions. With your extensive heavy commercial aircraft experience and A&P expertise, you’ll mentor mechanics, drive efficiency, and serve as the vital link between management expectations and flawless aircraft maintenance execution.

In This Role YOU will:
- Provide on-the-job training and technical assistance to personnel in your crew.
- Evaluate the performance of personnel on his/her crew and make recommendations as necessary to your supervisor.
- Perform only that work authorized by your supervisor and ensure that the work is performed to the standards of good workmanship as required.
- Ensure that all tools and equipment used by your crew are kept in serviceable condition and stored in an orderly manner.
- Recommend to your supervisor any requirements or improvements for your crew.
- Exercise control over stock checked out of Stockroom by employees on your crew.
- Monitor your crew time and ensure time has been approved by your manager.
- Report to your supervisor, with recommendations, any personnel problems that cannot be resolved satisfactorily within the crew.
- Recommend disciplinary action within your crew.
- Assist your supervisor as requested in the evaluation of non-routine work cards for parts, manhours and span time, and indicate corrective action.
- Monitor, continuously, work progress.
- Keep your supervisor always apprised of the status, particularly on jobs that are off schedule.
- Assist your supervisor in preparation of the shift status and change-over reports.
- Work directly with their Supervisor/Manager in the training and development of personnel in their respective department.
- Provide hands on guidance in the understanding of budgets, schedules, status briefings, task sequencing, resource utilization, teamwork, preplanning and daily execution of assigned duties.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Proficient working knowledge of the following: Aircraft systems, Troubleshooting, IPC’s, MM’s, SRM’s, fuel tank entry procedures, knowledge of all applicable F.A.R’s and company policy and procedures, safety procedures, Mentoring Mechanics, maintaining a clean / safe work environment, Aircraft flow, Aircraft budget.
SUPERVISION:
Under general direction. Normally performs duties after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. Some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. Assignment is usually reviewed upon completion.
INTERPERSONAL ENVIORMENT:
A high level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship with various departments, co-workers and management
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
Requires easy mobility around various sections of aircraft and the dexterity to remove and replace parts in a timely manner. Requires mental skills and quickness with the ability to cope with stress and intense effort or exertion usually caused by long working hours. Working environment requires standing 90% of the workday on hard surfaces. Must be able to lift 50lbs. and report to work regularly.
What YOU Need:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Airframe & Powerplant license required
- 5 years of heavy commercial aircraft maintenance, including 2 years’ APG Crew Chief experience, heavy maintenance work experience in the APG field required
