ST Engineering Aerospace is located at Brookley Aeroplex in Mobile, Alabama, and Pensacola, FL, at the Pensacola International Airport. We are a renowned provider of aircraft maintenance and modification (AMM) services for commercial airlines and air freight operators. What YOU will do: 

The Manager Safety & Environmental shall be responsible to the Director Quality for monitoring and enforcing environmental and safety compliance throughout the facility.The Manager Safety & Environmental shall plan, direct, layout and coordinate the activities of the department to provide compliance with environmental and safety issues relevant to the Repair Station operations

 

In This Role YOU will:

  1. Maintain all paperwork for the department, i.e., initiation of purchase requests, internal job task cards, and performance reviews.
  2. Establish policy, procedure and practice to ensure occupational safety compliance and the maintenance of a safe work environment in accordance with OSHA, NFPA ADEM and ANSI standards.
  3. Mitigating identified risk factors associated with personal injury, equipment damage and/or property loss.
  4. Assists with Human Resource Department to manage workman’s compensation claims in a timely and accurate manner to include reporting to proper authorities, record keeping, establishing rapport with treating physicians, hospital staff and case management.
  5. Interacts with insurance carriers to mitigate and manage identified risks that potentially could impact the employees and/or the facility.
  6. Manage the inspection of all fire extinguishers and the IT HalonSystem.
  7. Conducts occupational safety audits of the operations and procedures at the facility and reports to all appropriate parties.
  8. Produces monthly reports of occupational injuries to appropriate parties and develops trends analysis from data to use in mitigating efforts.
  9. Develop and administer a tracking system to manage safety related findings and recommendations.
  10. Evaluate departmental operations recommending improvements in quality, productivity and employee relations.
  11. Implement department programs and/or procedures that strive for excellence in quality as maintained by VTMAE’s Quality Assurance program.
  12. Resolve departmental problems by identifying the problem, researching alternatives, analyzing the costs and benefits, implementing the best alternative and evaluating the end results.
  13. Works closely with the Continuous Improvement Department to assist with implementation of CI projects.
  14. Audit and report in regards to the facility’s operation and its trends in accordance with OSHA, ADEM and NFPA building Codes.
  15. Monitor and handle for regulatory compliance and disposal all generated waste streams (hazardous, solid and universal).
  16. Implement and enforce procedures for regulatory requirements, under the company’s respiratory protection program.
  17. Manage and direct the facility actions under the Clean Air Permit.
  18. Manage for discharge the facilities waste water treatment system in accordance with the Mobile Area Water and Sewer Systems discharge permit.
  19. Review all new incoming Safety Data Sheets (SDS) prior to insertion in the SDS library by Tech Library personnel.
  20. Manage and monitor the training for the Emergency Response Team in the areas of Medical, Fire and/or Chemical response

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Good working knowledge with the ability to acquire advanced skills in the following:

Safety & Environmental standards found under 29 CFR - Labor, VT Mobile Aerospace Safety & Environmental procedures; hazardous materials spill cleanup procedures; working knowledge of hazardous materials storage inspection logs. Must be certified or become certified, to operate all motorized ground support equipment with the exception of the 80K forklift.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: General office environment.

SUPERVISION:   The incumbent normally performs the duty assignment at his or her discretion and is limited only by policies set by administrative or legislative authority.  Total end results determine the effectiveness of job performance.

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS: A strong level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship with management and co-workers.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Essential responsibilities are performed in a climate controlled office but not limited to the office.  Must be able to cope with stress and mental exhaustion due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals, meeting short deadlines, maintaining numerous projects simultaneously, employee confrontations and long work hours.

 

What YOU Need: 

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in training, education and/or experience.  
  • 5 years’ occupational safety related experience, 1-year leadership / supervisory / management experience.
