What YOU will do:  

The Crew Chief shall be responsible to his/her Supervisor / Manager for the overall operation of your crew and Machine shop.  The Crew Chief’s duties shall be assigned / reassigned by your Supervisor/Manager. 

 

In This Role YOU will: 

1.     Provide on-the-job training and technical assistance to personnel on your crew.

2.     Evaluate the performance of personnel on his/her crew and make recommendations as necessary to your supervisor.

3.     Ensure that all tools and equipment used by your crew are kept in serviceable condition and stored in an orderly manner.

4.     Recommend to your supervisor any requirements or improvements for your crew.

5.     Exercise control over stock checked out of Stockroom by employees on your crew.

6.     Complete your crew timecards and approve all hours worked.

7.     Report to your supervisor, with recommendations, about any personnel problems that cannot be resolved satisfactorily within the crew.

8.     Recommend disciplinary action within your crew.

9.     Assist your supervisor as requested in the evaluation of non-routine work cards for parts, manhours and span time, and indicate corrective

      action.

10.  Monitor, continuously, work progress. 

11. Keep your supervisor always up to date on the status, particularly on jobs that are off schedule. 

12. Assist your supervisor in preparation of the shift status and change-over reports.

13.  Perform any work that may be assigned by your supervisor.

14.  Adhere to safe maintenance practices and keep a clean work area.

15.  Maintain and supply personal records of work performed on OJT forms for the Training Department.

16.  Successfully complete any courses deemed necessary by the training department.

17.  Perform any work that may be assigned by your supervisor.

18.  Perform the duties of and provide necessary training for lower skill level.

 

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:  

Proficient working knowledge of job specifications for Sr. Machinist. Good working knowledge or ability to acquire the skills of a supervisor.  Proficient detail blueprints reading; read, interpret and work from SBS, AD notes, and engineering work orders; utilize shop math; work with little or no supervision on most major structural parts; set up all machines under all circumstances with no supervision; maintain high quality work while working in a very timely manner; able to hold tolerances of + 0002 and + ½ degrees; Proficient in CNC programming using CAD/CAM as well as good working knowledge of geometrics for method of part set up and generation of tool paths, set up and operate CNC equipment and edit the program with little or no assistance; build special tooling; perform maintenance on shop equipment’ knowledge of ATA codes; knowledge of all aircraft manuals and related materials; general knowledge of all aircraft manuals and related materials; knowledge of all applicable F.A.R.’s and company policies and procedures; thorough knowledge of  paperwork procedures including job clocking system, routine and non-routine cards, S.R.M.’s service bulletins and work sign off/sell-off procedures.      .

 

 

SUPERVISION:  

Normally performs duties according to your own judgement, requesting supervisory assistance only when necessary. The assignments are frequently reviewed upon completion.

 

INTERPERSONAL ENVIORMENT:

A moderate level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship with co-workers, supervision and customers.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

 Requires easy mobility around various sections of aircraft and the dexterity to move around to evaluate parts on the aircraft.  Requires mental skills and quickness with the ability to cope with stress and intense effort or exertion usually caused by long working hours. Must have the capacity to gain knowledge by adhering for one’s own safety due to the dangers involved in the operations of shop equipment. Working environment requires standing 50 % of the workday on hard surfaces. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and report to work regularly.   

 

What YOU Need:           

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Airframe license and/or Repairman Certificate
  • 4 years’ minimum experience in aircraft fabrication repair.
