Role Summary/Purpose:

The Engineering Technician will have responsibility of specific laboratory functions supporting the bonding fabrication of developmental processes, certification of materials and processes for composite & metallic materials. In addition, the Technician will be called upon to participate across other lab functional areas based on the work demand and priorities each day.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Works with supervision using drawings, process instructions, test plans or other written specifications to perform job duties.
  • Under direction of Team Leaders, responsible for meeting technical, schedule, cost, quality, and safety
  • requirements.
  • Must be able to operate equipment within the assigned lab function and perform hands on work.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and use of MS Office applications such as Word, Excel,
  • PowerPoint, or equivalent software.

 

Requirements

 

  • GED or diploma from accredited school.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a composite bonding manufacturing environment or an associates degree from an accredited university.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings and tolerancing, including material identification and ply tables.
  • Demonstrated ability using various measurement techniques – scales, calipers, indexes, etc…
  • Have current vehicle driver’s license to enable use of electric lift, tow, and transportation golf cart type of equipment certification.

 

Desired Characteristics:

  • Metallic & Composite test specimen fabrication experience.
  • Administration experience, recording, filing data using computer entry / collection.
  • Understanding of and experience with Metallic & Composite Mechanical Bonding and fabrication processes using industry standards (ASTMs, NAS, MIL-SPECs) and their various specimen fabrication methods.
  • Self-Motivated Team Player
  • Understanding the importance of schedule, costs and Customer responsiveness of tasking
  • Experience with NADCAP or customer audits
  • Assembly and familiarization with hand tools experience
  • Ability to multitask and handles tasks with competing priorities effectively
  • Detail oriented and basic computer skills with experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with SAP applications
  • Previous experience leading teams
