We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join our aerospace manufacturing team in Maryland. The Specialist will serve as a technical lead for all EHS matters, with added responsibility to lead and support a team of EHS Coordinators. This includes providing mentorship, ensuring consistent execution of compliance programs, and fostering professional development. The position also includes a backup role to the Security Manager, supporting physical security and regulatory access protocols.

At ST Engineering MRAS, we are also rapidly augmenting our maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities leveraging the company’s expanded aircraft nacelle portfolio as well as it’s materials and processing expertise.
What YOU will do:
· Serve as a technical subject matter expert for OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, and internal safety policies.
· Lead facility-wide risk assessments, safety inspections, and high-risk area reviews
· Lead EHS Coordinators by setting task priorities, offering guidance, and standardizing safety practices across shifts and departments. Conducting audits, training sessions, documentation reviews, and corrective actions.
· Develop and implement safety training programs, emergency procedures, and safety communications.
· Support orientation and employee compliance training, including specific high hazard training
· Support EHS Technicians in hazardous materials management, training and equipment sourcing
· Prepare for and support agency inspections from MDE, EPA, or other regulatory bodies.
· Serve as backup to the Security Manager, supporting physical access control, visitor management, and facility surveillance protocols.
· Assist in ensuring compliance with security regulations such as ITAR, CUI, or DFARS, as applicable.
What YOU must bring to Succeed:
· Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or a related field.
· 6–9 years of EHS experience in an aerospace, defense, or industrial manufacturing environment.
· Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring junior EHS professionals or coordinators.
· Proficient in OSHA, EPA, RCRA, Title V, stormwater, and hazardous materials regulations.
· Experience in facilities with respiratory protection requirements, chemical handling, and waste management.
Preferred certifications:
· CSP, CIH, CHMM, or FSO.
· Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
· Regular presence in manufacturing and outdoor facility areas; general PPE use required.
· Physical Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs, walk up and down stairs, and stand for long periods.
· Capable of conducting inspections of confined spaces, on ladders, and in noisy environments.
· Occasional extended hours, on-call availability, and emergency response support as needed.

Estimate salary range for this role: $88,200 to $127,300 per year. ST Engineering considers several factors with extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, education/training/certification, job level, and work location. Base salary is only one component of our competitive Total Rewards package.
