Who YOU are and what YOU can become

Manufacturing/Process Engineers are the bridge between the design team and the production floor. As a Lead within the Process Engineering team, you will take on developing new and improving upon existing composite structures that are manufactured in the composite bonding area.  Leads take manufacturing ownership of the structures they are responsible for and are able to communicate to business leaders as well as the certified operators who manufacture the product. Leads also provide guidance and act as a sounding board for PB and/or new engineers within the team to help resolve technical problems.

 

What YOU will do

  1. Develop/revise new and existing engineering specifications, processes and procedures that support the manufacturing of carbon fiber reinforced composite structures:
  • Process Specifications
  • Material Specifications
  • Tooling Specifications
  • Tooling Design, manufacturing and Geometry Buy-Off via modeling software
  • Production/Manufacturing Planning
  • Develop detailed cost models and provide Cost Out concepts
  1. Own and drive the introduction of new products into the manufacturing environment. This includes creating and/or reviewing the following aspects of NPI designs:
    • Manufacturability of design concepts
    • Cost estimates and ROI of new concepts and designs to be automated
    • Develop tooling concepts and production methodology for automation cells
    • Support of business reviews and provide technical insight into manufacturing.

Skills:

  1. Critical Thinking:
  • Troubleshoot complex engineering issues that are affecting part quality, cost and/or function (Machine to tooling interface/Tool to part Interface/Part to Assembly Interface)
  • Develop engineering metrics around productivity, part flow and report out to the business
  • Incorporate lean manufacturing methods and use Six Sigma data analysis tools to resolve CTQ issues
  1. Communication:
  • Create and employ operator manufacturing procedures, training manuals and programs for certifying operators
  • Effectively liaison with design/analysis engineering, procurement, union representatives and business leadership
  • Create engineering documentation in support of manufacturing activities and new equipment design, purchase and installation.

 

What YOU must bring to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a relevant engineering discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in manufacturing engineering relating to composite structures and/or other aerospace structures is required.

 

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in manufacturing and engineering technology
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methods
  • SAP experience is desired
  • Modeling software experience

Estimate salary range for this role: $88,200 to $127,300 per year. ST Engineering considers several factors with extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, education/training/certification, job level, and work location. Base salary is only one component of our competitive Total Rewards package.
