This role in the Product Engineering Department involves supporting systems engineering activities for the nacelle and aerostructures development programs. It requires the Lead Systems Engineer to act as the primary engineering liaison between customers and the internal IPT (Integrated Product Team) design teams. Responsibilities include working with engineering team leaders, subject-matter experts, and customers to develop, document and manage the deliverables: requirements baseline, interface documents and test plans.

What YOU will do:

  • Engage directly with customers and internal IPT design teams, functioning as a requirements and design ‘bridge’.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customer systems engineering, attending design reviews, leading technical System Readiness Reviews (SRR) and technical meetings.
  • Elicit, analyze and decompose aircraft and/or propulsion requirements and specifications from customers into requirements and specifications for internal IPTs and supplier, at the system, sub-system, component and vendor levels.
  • Work collaboratively with subject-matter experts, project managers and cross-functional IPTs to ensure requirements are understood, met and properly integrated.
  • Establish traceability to meet customer requirements and specifications and manage requirements documents.
  • Validate all levels of supplier requirements against the customer requirements.
  • Work with technical team leads and customers to define internal and external interfaces of the system, develop and manage Interface Control Documents.
  • Author, manage and review verification and validation plans, including inspection and test plans.
  • Manage requirement changes throughout the product lifecycle, identify and assess impacts from customer requirement changes and any design changes on overall system performance.

 

What YOU must bring to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • This position involves access to export-controlled technology which requires U.S. Person status or government authorization. A ‘U.S. Person,’ as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62, includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, individuals lawfully admitted for permanent residence (green card holders), and individuals granted asylum or refugee status in the United States. To be considered for this position, you must either be a U.S. Person or fall within a legally recognized export control exception or authorization. If hired, you will be required to provide valid proof of such status.

 

Desired Characteristics:

  • Background and experience in aerospace, systems engineering or mechanical systems preferred.
  • Strong skills in presenting technical data to customers, negotiating technical scope and writing clear specifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both non-technical customers and internal engineering experts (SME).
  • Ability to pay attention to details and thoroughness with documentation.
  • Strong ability to guide IPTs and lead technical reviews pertaining to systems.
  • Experience in requirements development and management processes, and proficiency in tools like Jama or DOORS.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Estimate salary range for this role: $92,000 to $138,100 per year. ST Engineering considers several factors with extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, education/training/certification, job level, and work location. Base salary is only one component of our competitive Total Rewards package.
