ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Develop Curricula and instruct aircraft courses to VT San Antonio Aerospace mechanics.  

  1. Have or obtain necessary experience and skills to develop the course material and teach at least three (3) of the following aircraft familiarization classes:  A300, A310, B707, B727, B737, B747, B757, B767, DC-8, DC9/MD80, DC-10, MD-11, L1011.  

  1. Develop and teach apprenticeship level structures field training (SFT) programs for AMT trainees, Interiors, Aircraft Conditions and others as required.  

  1. Develop and validate lessons plans as needed.  

  1. Assure that all training sources are designed to product maximum effectiveness, efficiency, improved and quality and increased production for the trainee.  

  1. Evaluate existing lessons plans for accuracy and pertinence to the trades as needed.  

  1. Develop supplemental materials to include demonstration mock ups, overhead transparencies and student handouts.  

  1. Write and validate all testing materials including written tests and performance tests pertaining to courses taught. Issue completion certificates to personnel completing courses taught. 

  1. Maintain current records and role sheets for all courses taught. 

  1. Ensure all course completions are entered in the training record (computer record and paper record) of each trainee.  

  1. Coordinate with the respective Departmental Heads and the Manager Quality Assurance on acceptable start dates and times for all airframe and structures courses to be taught. Present New Employee Orientation classes as required. 

 

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:  

Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire the skills to communicate, both orally and in writing, by presenting ideas, and giving instructions and guidance to employees or trainees in a manner that training instructions are understood clearly.  

 

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

SUPERVISION: Total end results determine effectiveness of job performance. 

 

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS: A strong level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship among employees, various departments, management and the public. 

 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Essential responsibilities are performed in a climate controlled office but not limited to the office.  Must be able to cope with stress and mental exhaustion due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals, meeting short deadlines, maintaining numerous projects simultaneously, employee confrontations and long work hours. 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

EDUCATION: High School diploma or GED required. FAA Airframe Certificate preferred but not required. 

 

EXPERIENCE: One-year teaching experience, either military or civilian. Must meet VT San Antonio Aerospace’s skill level requirements as specified in the job specification. Heavy aircraft experience including airframe and structures highly valued. Instructional development experience preferred.
