What YOU will do: Technician 1, Fuel Systems Maintenance is an entry level position and shall be responsible to the Supervisor, Fuel Systems Maintenance for basic maintenance tasks such as open-up and close-up, sealant application and assigned aircraft fuel systems maintenance tasks. He or she shall ensure that the maintenance, preventive maintenance and alterations on the customer aircraft are performed in accordance with applicable technical data, on schedule, within the estimated or budgeted hours and meets the highest level of safety and quality of workmanship.

 

In This Role, You Will:

  • Remove and install aircraft fuel tank access panels.
  • Perform aircraft fuel system removal, repair, installation, testing, and modifications in accordance with approved technical data.
  • Complete and sign off maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alteration records in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Assist senior technicians in troubleshooting aircraft fuel systems using technical manuals and analytical diagnostic techniques.
  • Perform maintenance tasks within aircraft fuel tanks and other confined spaces.
  • Clean, inspect, and apply sealants, adhesives, and approved chemicals to aircraft fuel tanks and other designated aircraft areas.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and ensure compliance with Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention standards.
  • Perform only authorized maintenance activities while ensuring all work meets company safety, quality, and workmanship standards.
  • Maintain accountabilities for all tools and equipment by ensuring they remain serviceable, properly stored, and inventoried after each task.
  • Control and manage stock materials checked out from the stockroom.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and operational performance.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

 

Working knowledge or ability to acquire skills in the following: 

  • Must be able to pass Respirator Fit Check and be able to enter fuel tanks and Confined Spaces.
  • Must possess a high degree of confidentiality, the ability to work under pressure, the ability to handle multiple tasks, team player and be a self-starter.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprint drawings and aircraft technical data such as the SRM, AMM, IPC, etc.
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills, as well as, interact with all levels of employees; management personnel; and customer representatives.
  • Must be able to work at heights
  • Must have good mechanical aptitude

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

 

SUPERVISION:  Under the general direction of a supervisor. Normally performs duties after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. There is some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. The assignment is usually reviewed upon completion.

     

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS:  A moderate level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship with co-workers and supervision.

 

 PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: The position requires performing entry to fuel tanks and confined spaces. Must be able to cope with stress and mental exhaustion due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals; meeting short deadlines; and possible long work hours. Exposure to fuel fumes, sealants/chemicals used in fuel systems maintenance and weather elements is expected for this position. Working environment requires standing 90% of the workday on hard surfaces or entry into the fuel tank. Must be able to lift 50lbs. and report to work regularly.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

         

          EDUCATION:          High School Diploma or GED

                                          

           PREFFERED:          FAA A&P Certification, but not mandatory

                                           Minimum two years’ working experience in aircraft fuel systems
