JOB SUMMARY:
The Technician II, Fuel Systems Maintenance shall be responsible to the Lead & Supervisor, Fuel Systems Maintenance for the accomplishment of the assigned aircraft fuel systems maintenance tasks. He or she shall ensure that the aircraft fuel systems maintenance, preventive maintenance and alterations on the customer aircraft are performed in accordance with applicable technical data, on schedule, within the estimated or budgeted hours and meets the highest level of safety and quality of workmanship.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
a. Perform aircraft fuel systems removal, repair, installation, test and modification in accordance with acceptable/approved technical data.
b. Ensure that the maintenance, preventive maintenance or alterations performed are signed off on the applicable aircraft records.
c. Perform troubleshooting of aircraft fuel systems using technical data and analytical troubleshooting techniques.
d. Perform entry and maintenance in fuel tanks and confined spaces.
e. Clean, inspect and apply sealants, adhesives and other chemicals in aircraft fuel tanks.
f. Ensure that areas where fuel work is accomplished are kept in a clean, free of FOD at all times and in an orderly manner.
g. Perform only that work authorized by the Project Manager or the Supervisor and the Manager of Fuel Systems Maintenance and ensure that the work is performed to the standards of highest standards workmanship required by VT SAA.
h. Ensure that all tools and equipment used are kept in serviceable condition, stored in an orderly manner and are accounted for after each job.
i. Exercise control over stock checked out of Stockroom.
j. Participates in the company’s Continuous Improvement activities
k. Perform additional duties as required by the Supervisor and Manager of Fuel Systems Maintenance.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
a. Must be able to pass Respirator Fit Check and be able to enter fuel tanks and Confined Spaces.
b. Must possess a high degree of confidentiality, the ability to work under pressure, the ability to handle multiple tasks, team player and be a self-starter.
c. Must be able to read and interpret blueprint drawings and aircraft technical data such as the SRM, AMM, IPC, etc.
d. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills, as well as, interact with all levels of employees; management personnel; and customer representatives.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
SUPERVISION: Under general direction. Normally performs duties after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. Refers back to the lead/supervisor for any technical queries related to the task at hand.
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS: A moderate level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship among employees, various departments, management and the customers.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: The position requires performing entry to fuel tanks and confined spaces. Must be able to cope with stress and mental exhaustion due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals; meeting short deadlines; and possible long work hours. Exposure to fuel fumes, sealants/chemicals used in fuel systems maintenance and weather elements is expected for this position. Working environment requires standing 90% of the workday on hard surfaces or entry into the fuel tank. Must be able to lift 50lbs. and report to work regularly.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED
FAA A&P Certificate is an advantage or specialized training.
EXPERIENCE: At least 2 years of working experience in the aircraft fuel systems required
Part 145 Heavy Maintenance experience preferred.
