SUMMARY:

 

The Program Manager will be responsible for the overall operation of the specific aircraft maintenance as assigned by the Director of Maintenance to minimize delays and increase production and efficiency.   He/she shall plan, direct, lay out and coordinate the activities of departments to minimize delays.  

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    Ensure that each individual aircraft project is managed for maximum efficiency and quality.
2.    Train and assist subordinates in the use of proper procedures, methods and practices to be followed in each respective duty.
3.    Ensure that all shop equipment and tools are available and maintained in a serviceable and working condition.
4.    Maintain the premises of the Repair Station in a clean and orderly manner.
5.    Be directly responsible for the proper and efficient use of all APG mechanics.
6.    Evaluate departmental operations recommending improvements in quality, productivity and employee relations. Implement programs and/or procedures that strive for excellence in quality as maintained by VT SAA‘s Quality Assurance program.  Resolve departmental problems by identifying the problem, researching alternatives, analyzing the costs and benefits, implementing the best alternative and evaluating the end results.
7.    Evaluate the performance of the Project Managers that were assigned under his/her       supervision.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire skills in the following: The ability to  communicate, both orally and in writing, by presenting ideas and giving instructions/guidance to subordinates, co-workers, supervisors and outside agencies in a manner that instructions are carried out and requested information is obtained; ability to motivate and lead a staff or team of subordinates to obtain goals, higher productivity and quality work; the ability to delegate and prioritized work effectively; creatively; persuasively.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

 

SUPERVISION:  The incumbent normally performs the duty assignment at his or her discretion and is limited only by policies set by administrative or legislative authority. Total end results determine the effectiveness of job performance.

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS:  A strong level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship among employees, various departments, management and the public.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:  Essential responsibilities are performed in a climate controlled office but not limited to the office.  Must be able to cope with stress and mental exhaustion due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals, meeting short deadlines,     maintaining numerous projects simultaneously, employee confrontations and long work hours.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION:      2 years college preferred,

                            Current FAA A&P License Required.

EXPERIENCE:   4 years Aviation Maintenance or related field preferred.

                           10 years commercial maintenance, 3 years supervisory capacity.
