SUMMARY:

The Manager, Quality Assurance shall be responsible to the Director of Quality for the overall administration of the Quality Management System.  He/she shall serve as a member of the Management Team, and is primarily responsible for oversight of the Quality Management System to ensure effectiveness.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop, administer and maintain quality assurance procedures and activities required to ensure that the company’s products are in compliance with Governmental, company and customer quality processes, procedures, rules, regulations and standards.
  2. Select, train and assist his/her subordinates in proper, methods and practices to be followed in each respective duty.
  3. Evaluate the effectiveness of VT SAA’s Quality System and make amendments to ensure continued effectiveness.
  4. Coordinate, develop, and implement programs that will enhance productivity and quality for all departments.
  5. Ensure that the most current revisions of VT SAA PPM are accessible to all employees as needed.
  6. Oversee the Internal Audit Program and ensure that effective corrective and preventive actions are deployed to eliminate the occurrence of system deficiencies.
  7. Oversight of contract maintenance vendors.
  8. Interface with outside external quality organizations to maintain VT SAA’s quality system at the highest level possible.
  9. Manage the Human Factors Program tracking, trending and provide final reports to the Director of Quality.
  10. Liaison with Customer Representatives on any quality issues that may arise.
  11. Provide oversight of Customer programs and day to day operations to ensure compliance with VT SAA, Customer and FAA requirements.
  12. Investigate aircraft incidents to provide management with the most basic root cause.
  13. Evaluate Customer program performance and report to management any trends that impact the Quality System.

 

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:       Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire skills in the following:

The ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, by presenting ideas and giving instructions/guidance to subordinates, co-workers, supervisors and outside agencies in a manner that instructions are carried out and requested information is obtained; ability to motivate and lead a staff or team of subordinates to obtain goals, higher productivity and quality work; the ability to delegate and prioritized work effectively; creative; persuasive.  The Manager Quality Assurance may delegate all duties to any qualified assistant as necessary.  However, such delegation shall not relieve the Manager Quality Assurance of the overall responsibilities.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

SUPERVISION:  The incumbent performs the duty assignment at his or her discretion and is limited only by policies set by administrative or legislative authority.  Total end results determine the effectiveness of job performance.

 

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS:  A strong level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship among employees, various departments, management, and the public and customer representatives.

 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:  Essential responsibilities are performed in a climate-controlled office setting but not limited to the office.  Must be able to cope with stress and mental exhaustion due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals, meeting short deadlines, maintaining numerous projects simultaneously, employee confrontations and long work hours.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

                                EDUCATION:  4 years BS in Engineering or equivalent in training, education and/or experience.

                                EXPERIENCE:  5 years commercial maintenance, 5 years engineering, or 5 years engineering management.
