JOB SUMMARY:

           

Responsible for Mechanical maintenance and repair on Commercial Aircraft types.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

           

  1. Remove and replace various aircraft components with the use of special tooling and ground support equipment following oral and written instructions such as supervisor’s directives and manuals to complete all routine and non-routine assignments in a timely manner.
  2. Maintain and store tools in a serviceable condition.
  3. Adhere to safe maintenance practices and keep a clean work area.
  4. Maintain and supply personal records of work performed on OJT forms for the Training Department.
  5. Successfully complete any courses deemed necessary by the Training Department.
  6. Perform any work that may be assigned by his or her supervisor.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:   

 

Good working knowledge or ability to acquire skills in the following:

 

Proper use of safety equipment, use of drill motor and drills, use of rivet gun and sets, bucking bar selection, use of various types of cleco’s and clamps, countersinking, use of countersink microstops, rivet cutters, reamers, hand files, aircraft hank snips (L/H – R/H – Straight), hole finders, deburring tools, manual foot operated shears, manual metal brake, manual metal rollers, drill press, power shears, power disc sander, power band saw, high-speed sanders and grinders, recognition and use of titanium alloys and stainless steel, installation and removal of universal head rivets and flush head rivets, selection of appropriate fastener, install and remove hi-loks, cherry-max and cherry-lock rivets, hi-shear fasteners and rivnuts, identify types of corrosion, proper corrosion clean-up, evaluation of corrosion damage, treatment of metal after clean-up, alodining procedures, priming treated metal surfaces, dissimilar metal protection, operation of reader printer, general knowledge of ATA codes, general knowledge of all aircraft manuals and related materials, general knowledge of all applicable F.A.R.’s and company policies and procedures, familiar with paperwork procedures including job cards/ time cards, routine and non-routine cards, S.R.M.’s, service bulletins and work sign-off/ sell-off procedures.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

 

SUPERVISION:        Under immediate direction. Normally performs duties after receiving detailed instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. Little room for deviation. Supervisor may provide close and constant review while work is under way and when the assignment is completed.

           

            INTERPERSONAL RELATION:  A moderate level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship with co-workers and supervision.

           

            PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:      Requires easy mobility around various sections of aircraft and the dexterity to extract and replace parts in a timely manner. Must have mental skills and quickness with the ability to cope with stress and intense effort or exertion usually caused by long working hours. Ability to gain knowledge by being aware of one’s own safety; due to the dangers involved in the operations of shop equipment. Working environment requires standing 90% of the workday on hard surfaces. Must be able to lift 50lbs. and report to work regularly.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  

 

            EDUCATION:           High school diploma or GED required.

Specialized aviation trade school graduate preferred.

                                                A&P license desired.

 

EXPERIENCE:         (1) year of comprehensive mechanical experience or an equivalent of specialized classroom training from an accredited aviation trade school is preferred, but not required.
