This position is hybrid onsite T-Th in Alexandria, VA

Budgeted compensation range: $180-$220K plus 15% annual incentive eligibility.  Pay within this range will be determined based on relevant experience and qualifications.

What YOU will do: 

The Sr. Director of Defense Business Development reports to the Vice President, Government Relations & Business Development, located at the U.S. HQ in Alexandria, VA.  This position will functionally report and be integrated with the Group International Defense Business Development team based in Singapore. this role requires deep multicultural understanding, a situational awareness that allows for patience and flexibility in solving problems, and an appreciation for the use of effective strategic messaging to advocate for Group business development and strategic interests.



  • Develop, execute, and align comprehensive business development strategies using knowledge of the U.S. defense industry to pursue new opportunities.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, including senior military officials, program managers, and procurement officers.
  • Lead the development of winning proposals, including market analysis, solution design, and pricing strategies, to secure new contracts and partnerships.
  • Provide inputs for the development of U.S. defense market strategies and priorities.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive intelligence to inform strategic decision-making and drive innovation within the company.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to promote ST Engineering capabilities and expand our reach within the defense community.
  • Travel within the U.S. and occasionally abroad in support of corporate priorities (20%)


Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and work autonomously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.



  • Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years combined experience with military operations, professional sales, capture planning, and defense requirements, budgeting, programming, contracting, or acquisition.
  • Experience with the DoD budget and requirements process
  • Thorough understanding of U.S. government acquisition and resource allocation process, and international sales and procurements.
  • Experience working with DoD as a servicemember, civilian employee, or federal contractor.
  • Strong professional network in the U.S. Armed Forces, DoD, and/or defense industry.
  • Experience in identifying, shaping, and winning defense contracts.
  • Comfort engaging customers of all seniority and experience levels within operating forces, component commands, research labs, program offices, and service headquarters staff as required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent public presentation skills.
  • Must be physically located in the National Capitol Region—this position is hybrid onsite in Alexandria, VA.
  • Must occasionally attend events or meetings during non-standard hours
