JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for electrical maintenance and repair on Commercial Aircraft types.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Remove and replace various aircraft components and electrical systems with the use of special tooling and ground support equipment following oral and written instructions such as supervisor’s directives and manuals to complete all routine and non-routine assignments in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot and repair all major electrical, communications, and navigational systems down to component level with various testing equipment on aircraft or in a shop environment.
- Analyze all repairs deciding independent methods and procedures to accomplish assignments.
- Perform as a Relief Supervisor assuming all Supervisor responsibilities in his or her absence.
- Lead and work with small crew of 2 to 4 mechanics/technicians in performance of their assignments.
- Perform the duties of and provide necessary training for lower skill levels.
- Maintain and store various tools in a serviceable condition.
- Adhere to safe maintenance practices and keep a clean work area.
- Maintain and supply personal records of work performed on OJT forms for the Training Department.
- Successfully complete any courses deemed necessary by the Training Department.
- Perform any work that may be assigned by his or her supervisor.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Proficient working knowledge of job specifications for Avionics Mechanic I and II and III. Good working knowledge or ability to acquire the skills of a Lead Mechanic. Proficient working knowledge of the following skills and the ability to learn skills among various narrow and wide body commercial aircraft:
Proficient in ordering parts and materials from IPC and other sources, proficient knowledge of VT San Antonio Aerospace, Inc. procedures manual and all paperwork procedures, resolve difficult tasks with limited information and supervision by conducting in depth research using appropriate sources and manuals, proficient knowledge of all aircraft manuals, and related materials, proficient knowledge of ATA codes, wiring schematics, analysis charts and maintenance procedures, knowledge of all applicable F.A.R.’s and company policies and procedures, proficient knowledge and interpretation of all paperwork procedures including job cards/ time cards, routine/ non-routine cards, S.R.M.’s, service bulletins, A.D.’s, E.O.’s, and work sign-off/sell-off procedures.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
SUPERVISION: Under direction. Normally performs duties according to his or her own judgment, requesting supervisory assistance only when necessary. The assignment is frequently reviewed upon completion.
INTERPERSONAL RELATION: A moderate level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship with co-workers and supervision.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Requires easy mobility around various sections of aircraft and the dexterity to remove, rectify, and replace systems or components in a timely manner. Requires mental skills and quickness with the ability to cope with stress and intense effort or exertion usually caused by long working hours. Must have the capacity to gain knowledge by hearing for one’s own safety due to the dangers involved. Must possess the ability to distinguish colors to perform work adequately. Working environment requires standing 90% of the workday on hard surfaces. Must be able to lift 50lbs. and report to work regularly.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required.
FAA Airframe license required and powerplant preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years transport category aircraft or related experience required in Avionics.
Presently classified as Senior Avionics Mechanic.
Previous Lead/Supervisory experience preferred;
Demonstrated leadership skills required.
